EXOTIC WOOD

Found deep inside the sacred heart of Africa's jungles, magnificent exotic hardwoods are used to carve to create African Art that holds energy and showcases the power of the objects birthed. Adventurers have traveled across the globe risking life and limb in their desire to observe and experience the thrill of watching carvers with passion and supernatural skills create Masterpieces.

Observers are now mesmerized and forever touched, moved, and inspired by African Art. They, develop a deep appreciation for these master carvers’ artistic expression, mystic skill, and spiritual connection. The perception of African Art elevates from just craft artwork to Handcrafted Fine Art.

One statue standing erect about three feet tall and one foot wide can cost more than a million-dollar luxury home. African Art is so visually and emotionally stimulating it can awaken and stir your visceral feelings with unmatched intensity while penetrating your heart. The beauty and power of African Art is a natural aphrodisiac that arouses the sartorial senses. Now you too can experience the pleasure and love of African Art.

BEAUTY IS POWER

Helena Rubinstein was a 20th-century cosmetics entrepreneur who was an avid collector of African Art. As a wildly successful early feminist, she had a remarkable life and a spectacular art collection. She empowered the modern woman to define herself through her choices in taste and decor.

Iconic style setter Peggy Guggenheim collected African Art. The alluring pieces showcased represent a rich culture with defined masculinity and femininity in masks, headdresses, and various carved figures simulating sexuality and fertility. Her tribal collection is currently on exhibit at the Peggy Guggenheim Museum in Venice, Italy. Her Exhibition started on October 6, 2021.

POWERFUL ART POWERFUL MEN

Nelson A. Rockefeller who served as the 41st vice president of the United States from December 1974 to January 1977 was an advocate for and major admirer of African Art. The Museum of Primitive Art (MPA) Founded by Nelson A. Rockefeller (1908–1979) in 1954, was the first museum in the United States dedicated to art from Africa, Oceania, and the Americas—it housed over 3,000 objects from the Rockefeller collection. In his own words, Nelson A. Rockefeller, President, and Founder of the MPA said that he was:

“Irresistibly drawn to [African, Oceanic, and pre-Columbian artworks] by their directness, their vitality, and their strong sense of style. The small collection inevitably grew larger. It seemed to me that there were sculptures that had something to say to our own time, whose inner strength and expressiveness had an affinity with the best of twentieth-century art.

Here were works of art that should be known to a larger public. The private collection, therefore, became the founding (nucleus of The Museum of Primitive Art… At the time of its opening, I formulated the Museum’s purpose in these words: “To integrate primitive art into what is already known of the arts of man, to select objects of outstanding beauty and to exhibit them so that they may be enjoyed in the fullest measure."

I was a little fearful at first I'm a single woman and had never made a major purchase of an African Artifact. The Chokwe mask is a beautiful addition to my office. I get so many compliments. Thank You! April 2020 / Prairie Village, KS

We met at the Hilliard Gallery in Dec 2019 when you had your Collection on display during First Friday in the Crossroads. I appreciated how you answered all my questions and shared information. I purchased a mask based on your recommendation. To my surprise the mask fits really well with my contemporary furnishings. Thank You for your valuable insight. December 2019 / Mission Hills, KS

"In age, variety, and beauty African Art is second to none. Africa had traditions of abstract art, performance art, installation art, and conceptual art centuries before the west dreamed up the names."
